Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS)

Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) is a treatment for depression, especially treatment-resistant depression, that involves sending electrical impulses to the vagus nerve through an implanted device. This stimulation can help regulate mood by affecting areas of the brain involved in mood regulation. VNS is usually considered after other treatments, like antidepressants and therapy, have not been effective.
