Acute Stress Disorder (ASD)

Acute Stress Disorder (ASD) occurs in response to a traumatic event and involves symptoms similar to PTSD, such as intrusive thoughts, nightmares, and hyperarousal, but lasts for a shorter duration (typically within a month of the event). ASD can evolve into PTSD if symptoms persist. Treatment includes trauma-focused therapy, relaxation techniques, and sometimes short-term medication.
