Behavioral Activation

Behavioral activation is a key component of CBT used to help individuals engage in activities that promote positive emotions and reduce feelings of depression. It involves scheduling and participating in rewarding or meaningful activities, even when motivation is low. The idea is that by increasing positive reinforcement through activity, individuals can break the cycle of inactivity and negative mood that often accompanies depression. Behavioral activation can be particularly helpful in cases where individuals struggle with low energy, lack of interest, or feelings of hopelessness, gradually improving mood and overall functioning.
