Complex PTSD

Complex PTSD (C-PTSD) arises from prolonged exposure to traumatic events, such as ongoing abuse or neglect, often resulting in symptoms similar to PTSD, but with additional challenges such as difficulty with emotional regulation, relationship issues, and feelings of shame. Treatment typically involves trauma-informed therapy approaches, such as EMDR or DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), to address both PTSD symptoms and complex emotional challenges.
