Dysthymia (Persistent Depressive Disorder)

Dysthymia, or Persistent Depressive Disorder, is a chronic form of depression that lasts for at least two years. Individuals with dysthymia experience long periods of low mood and energy, but the symptoms are less intense than those of Major Depressive Disorder. Treatment usually includes psychotherapy, particularly CBT, and sometimes medication to help manage symptoms and improve mood over the long term.
