Persistent Depressive Disorder (Dysthymia)

Persistent Depressive Disorder, or Dysthymia, is a chronic form of depression that lasts for at least two years. While symptoms may be less severe than Major Depressive Disorder, individuals often experience prolonged periods of sadness, low energy, and feelings of inadequacy. Treatment often involves therapy, including CBT and interpersonal therapy (IPT), along with medication to alleviate symptoms.
