Biological Psychiatry: Our Unique Approach

How our bodies work can significantly affect our mental health. At Keil Psych Group, we have a unique approach to addressing how the physical may be impacting the psychological. Not only are we adept to the latest medications and advancements pharmacologically, we will also take a look at how your body is working from a 360 perspective. We believe our approach is the next generation of holistic psychiatry.

Think of this as a dive into the biology of your mental health

This includes running tailored bloodwork to determine if there are any underlying deficiencies or pathologies that could be driving your challenges, unfortunately, this can be more common than you think (e.g. thyroid issues, vitamin deficiencies, cortisol abnormalities etc). We look at and recommend specific changes in lifestyle factors like diet, exercise, sleep habits/routine, stress management, and social/emotional support. We will also recommend changes in supplementation based on our findings and your symptoms. There are a host of non-medication based therapies that can really move the needle when it comes to your mental health and others that work really well in conjunction with your medication therapies.

Our goal isn’t to just get you feeling better but to optimize your health for feeling your best, physically and mentally.

We cant wait to hear from you and develop the perfect plan to support you and your unique physiology. Don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. You can also book your first session with Mitch Gosvener, NP using the Book now Tab above. Let’s get you feeling your best!

How Psychiatry Can Support Your Mental Health

Our approach prioritizes your overall well-being, combining evidence-based treatments with a philosophy of holistic care. While medication can be an important tool in managing symptoms, we are committed to prescribing responsibly. This means avoiding medications with significant risks for dependence or abuse and focusing on options that align with your health and safety. We also offer advanced testing to streamline your care and get to the medication that works the best for your specific biology.

During your treatment journey, you can expect:

Comprehensive Evaluation: We’ll take the time to understand your medical history, mental health symptoms, and personal goals to create a personalized treatment plan. We will take a look at all aspects of your health and identify exactly what is going on and what can be improved.

Collaborative Care: Psychiatry works best when integrated with therapy. Medications, when needed, can complement therapeutic interventions, helping you achieve greater stability and progress.

Coordinated Approach: Our team works together to ensure you receive seamless care. We will collaborate and work closely with your current psychologist to ensure seamless integration of approach. Research shows this is the most effective method of addressing mental health concerns

Empowerment Through Education: We’ll explain your treatment options, ensuring you’re informed and involved in every decision.

Our Philosophy on Psychiatric Care

At the heart of our practice is a commitment to treating the whole person. Mental health is deeply interconnected with physical, emotional, and social well-being. Our treatment philosophy emphasizes:

Holistic Care: Beyond medications, we incorporate a wide range of interventions to help you manage your mental health.

Individualized Treatment: No two patients are the same. We tailor our approach to your specific needs, preferences, and circumstances.

Compassionate Support: You’ll find a welcoming and nonjudgmental environment where your voice is heard, and your experiences are validated.

The Process of Psychiatric Care

Seeking psychiatric care is a proactive step toward improving your mental health. Here’s how the process works:

1. Initial Consultation: During your first visit, we’ll gather detailed information about your mental and physical health history. This helps us create a tailored treatment plan.

2. Treatment Planning: Whether it’s medication, therapy, or a combination of both, your plan will be customized to address your unique challenges and goals.

3. Ongoing Support: Regular follow-ups allow us to monitor your progress, make adjustments as needed, and ensure your treatment continues to meet your needs.

4. Team Collaboration: We take a coordinated approach to care, meeting as a team to review your treatment plan and ensure all aspects of your mental health are addressed.

A Collaborative Partnership

We believe the best outcomes happen when you’re an active participant in your care. Our goal is to empower you to take charge of your mental health, providing the tools and support you need to feel your best.
